Strobist .. adalah teknik menggunakan flash/blitz secara off-kamera. Off – kamera ?? iya .. pada umumnya kan flash camera tersebut nancep di hot-shoe pada kamera . Nah off-kamera ini memungkinkan flash dapat ditrigger dimanapun tanpa harus terpasang di hot-shoe. Keuntungannya kita bisa memposisikan satu atau lebih flash di mana saja untuk mengatur arah, intensitas, cahaya untuk menghasilkan foto yg kita inginkan.

Tutelyudetrut .. sebenarnya saya ga terlalu minat dengan dunia per-flash-an ini. Kayaknya ribet , ada tambahan control yang harus disetting bla bla..belum lagi penempatan posisi flash ini itu .. plus kayaknya mahal-mahal. Dan sedikit tambahan ego seorang fotografer naif dan culun : ” ah saya kan nature photographer .. cukup nature lighting saja” hahahaha .. well , ternyata ada secuil bakat kreatif terpendam dalam diri saya yg ingin keluar . Sampai akhirnya saya melihat DVD One Light workshop-nya Zack Arias .. saya mulai tertarik. Ternyata mudah , teori dan prinsip2-nya gampang diingat . Tidak jauh berbeda dengan konsep exposure pada umumnya dengan beberapa catatan seperti :

shutter speed mempengaruhi ambien exposure ( background )
inverse square law.. aga ribet nih diterangin tapi intinya exposure yang keluar dari flash akan berkurang secara bertahap dengan rumus inverse square law tersebut
ada tambahan lighting yaitu dari flash .. kita bisa control output-nya ( jika mode manual )
aperture dan ISO tetap fungsinya untuk mengatur cahaya yang masuk

Dan.. akhirnya setelah mendapat restu Istri tercintakuh dan setelah merelakan tidak jadi beli iPhone hehe , akhirnya terbeli juga beberapa perangkat strobist pemula. Oh ya.. saya memilih cara no 3 ( radio trigger ). Lebih simple dan powerful karena tidak harus line-of-sight . Lagipula , sudah banyak asesoris yang 3rd party dan murah meriah . Tapi kan manual ?? ya .. trus ? hehehe .. saya juga mau ngetest ilmu manual-exposure nih . Sebenarnya ga ribet-ribet amat sih , asal konsep exposure sudah paham . Lagipula dengan mode Manual , foto yang dihasilkan tetap bisa konsisten dengan level exposure yang sama utk setiap foto. Ga harus tweak lagi di PS utk brightness controlnya kan? hehehe

Nikon SB24 , saya beli bekas nih mumpung ada yg jual dengan harga murah ( 950rb ) .. salah satu enaknya dengan radio trigger adalah kita tidak harus beli flash yang baru dan modern. Yang penting adalah bisa manual..lha wong yg dipake cuma manual power-nya kok . Nikon ?? karena satu kerabat :p .. ga ding , karena voltage-nya tergolong aman untuk di trigger dan ada PC socket .

EOS 1000D DSLR

Entah kenapa, sekarang ini kamera DSLR sudah menjamur di semua kalangan masyarakat. Temenku aja udah banyak yang punya barang mewah ini, bahkan udah ada komunitasnya sendiri. Mungkin disebabkan banyaknya kelebihan yang dimiliki oleh kamera DSLR ini dibanding dengan kamera pocket biasa. Disini saya akan mencoba melihat seberapa ‘hebat’ kekuatan yang dimiliki oleh sebuah kamera DSLR keluaran Canon, dengan tipe 1000D.

Kamera digital Canon EOS 1000D adalah nama yang digunakan pada pemasaran di wilayah Eropa, sedangkan pada wilayah Jepang dikenal sebagai Digital Rebel XS atau Canon EOS Kiss Digital F. Adalah kamera profesional entry level meneruskan pendahulunya Canon EOS 450D, dengan beberapa upgrade pada fasilitasnya, salahsatunya adalah menggunakan image processor DIGIC III yang memberikan kesempurnaan gambar serta kecepatan focus dan opeasional yang lebih baik jika dibandingkan processor sebelumnya. Kamera ini juga dilengkapi dengan live view pada LCD sehingga kita dapat melihat object yang akan di shoot melalui layar LCD. Salah satu kelebihan dari live view ini adalah kita bisa mendapatkan 100% object tanpa ada yang terlewatkan, dibanding jika kita melihat object melalui optical viewfinder, yang biasanya hasil fotonya akan menjadi sedikit lebih besar dibanding apa yang dilihat dari optical viewfinder. Yang harus diperhatikan bahwa live view pada kamera Canon EOS 1000D ini tidak bisa digunakan pada mode shooting tertentu.

Pada saat pembelian kamera Canon EOS 1000D ini, akan disertakan lensa kit dengan ukuran 18-55 IS EF-S F3.5-5.6. Salah satu kelebihan dari lensa kit ini adalah kemampuan image stabilizer yang membuat kita dapat menurutkan kecepatan shutterspeed untuk mendapatkan hasil yang lebih sesuai, tanpa takut gambar menjadi kabur akibat getaran tanggan pada saat kita menekan tombol shutter. Cara Kamera Canon EOS 1000D ini membersihkan sensor adalah dengan getaran gelombang ultrasonic dan kemudian menggunakan low pass filter yang memiliki lapisan anti-static yang dapat melindungi dari debu.

Untuk membuat foto berupa potret membutuhkan perencanaan yang baik. Kualitas foto bukan sekadar hasil jepretan kamera saja, namun dapat menampilkan makna dari kepribadian dan ekspresi orang yang ada dalam foto tersebut. Yang perlu diperhatikan tidak hanya subyek foto tersebut, namun juga pencahayaan, latar belakang, set, lokasi, pose, ekspresi muka dan warna. Meski mungkin Anda tidak mampu mengambil foto potret seindah fotografer profesional, namun dengan mempelajari beberapa teknik dasarnya, Anda bisa membuat foto potret sendiri.

Berikut ini beberapa tips dan saran untuk membuat foto potret yang baik.

Bagaimana cara membuat seseorang tersenyum di depan kamera?
Pastikan subyek yang Anda foto dalam kondisi atau mood yang baik untuk difoto. Misalnya Anda ingin membuat foto seorang anak kecil, maka pastikan bahwa ia tidak dalam kondisi lelah atau lapar. Juga pastikan subyek yang Anda foto tidak dalam kondisi lelah karena dapat membuat wajah dan matanya menjadi lebih tegang. Anda dapat memberikan sedikit waktu untuk beristirahat atau menikmati makanan ringan sebelum sesi pemotretan dimulai. Dengan memberi waktu jedah istirahat sambil menikmati cemilan, Anda akan membangun interaksi yang baik dengan subyek foto Anda. Bersikap ramah dan berbicaralah dengannya yang akan membantunya lebih rileks.
Namun jangan membuat situasi menjadi lucu hingga subyek tersebut tertawa terbahak-bahak. Karena hal ini dapat membuat matanya menjadi juling dan membuat aliran darah di wajah lebih banyak. Cobalah mengambil gambar dengan ekspresi wajah yang berbeda-beda. Semakin banyak foto yang Anda buat, semakin banyak kesempatan memperoleh foto terbaik yang menampilkan karakter orang tersebut.
Bagaimana penanganan orang yang menggunakan kacamata?
Kacamata dapat menimbulkan pantulan cahaya dan membuat silau. Karena itu Anda dapat melihatnya dari viewfinder atau layar LCD kamera Anda, apakah ada pantulan cahaya yang mengganggu. Jika ternyata ada pantulan cahaya di kacamata subyek yang Anda foto, Anda dapat memintanya untuk menggerakkan kepalanya secara perlahan hingga pantulan cahaya tersebut hilang dari titik tengah matanya. Anda juga dapat memintanya sedikit menundukkan kepalanya, namun berhati-hatilah agar tidak terjadi lipatan pada dagunya jika terlalu menunduk.
Bagaimana dengan pakaian dan penampilan?
Jika Anda akan mengambil foto sekelompok orang, perhatikan juga warna pakaian. Gunakan warna yang enak dipandang. Atau Anda dapat juga meminta mereka menggunakan warna yang sama.
Jika Anda akan mengambil foto seseorang, warna pakaian juga perlu diperhatikan. Jika Anda ingin memfoto seseorang berbadan besar, maka sebaiknya ia menggunakan pakaian berwarna gelap. Sebaliknya jika subyek Anda berbadan kurus atau kecil, maka mintalah ia menggunakan pakaian berwarna terang.
Lalu pastikan pakaian tidak kusut saat difoto. Jika orang tersebut menggunakan dasi, perhatikan apakah dasinya sudah lurus dan rapi. Lalu pastikan rambutnya telah rapi. Mata Anda mungkin tidak mampu memperhatikan ada helai rambut yang keluar dan mengganggu, namun lensa kamera akan menangkapnya dengan jelas. Lalu jika Anda akan mengambil gambar seorang wanita, Anda dapat memperhatikan make up yang digunakan telah sesuai.
Apa yang perlu diperhatikan saat foto outdoor atau di luar ruangan?
Saat mengambil foto di luar ruangan, perhatikan situasi yang menjadi latar belakang foto tersebut. Pilihlah pohon, bunga, pagar kayu, atau tembok rumah sebagai latar belakang. Jangan mengambil foto dengan latar kegiatan yang sibuk seperti jalan raya, kabel listrik, atau daerah bisnis dan sibuk. Hal ini dapat mengurangi keindahan hasil foto Anda. Ingatlah subyek Anda dalam foto potret adalah orang yang akan Anda foto saja dan bukan latar belakangnya.
Apa yang perlu diperhatikan saat foto indoor atau di dalam ruangan?
Jika Anda mengambil foto di dalam ruangan, Anda bisa mempersilahkan subyek yang Anda foto untuk duduk di kursi atau sofa yang diletakkan di depan sebuah tembok berwarna cerah atau di dekat tanaman indoor
Anda juga dapat mengatur agar latar belakang foto tersebut menggambarkan pekerjaan dan kegiatan favorit dari subyek yang Anda foto. Misalnya Anda dapat meletakkan meja atau alat jahit sebagai latar belakang.
Lensa apa yang cocok untuk foto potret?
Anda dapat menggunakan lensa antara 105 sampai 150 mm untuk mengambil foto potret. Jika Anda tidak dapat mengganti atau mengatur lensa kamera Anda, misalnya kamera saku (pocket camera), Anda dapat mengatur jarak antara Anda dan subyek yang difoto. Cobalah mendekati atau menjauh dari subyek hingga Anda mendapatkan posisi foto yang paling tepat.
Bagaimana komposisi foto yang tepat?
Anda dapat menyisakan sedikit jarak dari subyek yang Anda foto ke sisi foto tersebut. Jarak ini berguna jika Anda akan membuat bingkai untuk foto tersebut sehingga tidak akan memotong bagian tubuh subyek yang Anda foto.

Bagaimana dengan posisi dan sikap dari subyek foto?
Pastikan subyek yang Anda foto dalam posisi rileks, baik saat berdiri, duduk, atau berbaring. Jika wajahnya terlalu bulat, mintalah subyek foto Anda untuk sedikit memutar kepala atau badannya sehingga hanya sebagian dari wajahnya terkena pencahayaan. Hal ini akan membuat wajahnya lebih ramping.
Perhatikan posisi tubuh yang lain, seperti tangan dan kaki. Pastikan posisi tubuh dalam posisi alami atau natural. Cobalah agar subyek yang Anda foto memegang sesuatu atau melakukan pose yang alamiah. Jangan biarkan kedua tangan lurus ke bawah di samping tubuh. Hal ini sering dilakukan fotografer pemula namun akan membuat subyek terlihat kaku dalam foto.
Bagaimana cara mengambil gambar subyek pasangan?
Mintalah mereka untuk sedikit memiringkan kepala satu sama lain. Hal ini untuk menghindari kepala mereka sama tinggi. Cobalah menempatkan tinggi hidung salah satu orang pada ketinggian mata orang lainnya.
Bagaimana dengan pencahayaan?

Jika matahari terlalu terik, posisikan agar matahari menyinari dari belakang subyek foto Anda. Memang hal ini akan menyebabkan wajahnya menjadi gelap karena menjadi bayangan matahari yang menyinari dari belakang. Anda dapat menggunakan flash atau blitz atau lampu kilat untuk menerangi daerah yang menjadi bayangan matahari. Anda juga dapat menggunakan reflector atau yang paling mudah menggunakan white board untuk memantulkan cahaya matahari ke bagian yang menjadi bayangan matahari.
Jika mengambil gambar di dalam ruangan (indoor), gunakan blitz untuk pencahayaan. Anda juga dapat mengambil gambar di dekat jendela yang memiliki pencahayaan lebih terang. Lakukan ini di daerah yang memiliki tembok berwarna putih atau terang, karena akan memantulkan cahaya dari blitz kamera Anda sehingga lebih memperkuat pencahayaan.

Seni Fotografi digital bisa diibaratkan sebagai melukis dengan cahaya, dalam hal ini kamera dan Lensa yang menggantikan peran kuas dan cat. Ada dua hal yg memegang peranan terpenting dalam kamera dan lensa, yaitu Shutter Speed dan Aperture

Shutter Speed adalah lamanya waktu yg diperlukan untuk menyinari sensor CMOS ato CCD pada kamera digital, dan Film pada kamera konvensional. Pada Kemera tertera angka-angka 250,125,60,30,15 dst. Ini berarti lamanya penyinaran adalah 1/250 detik, 1/125 detik, 1/60 detik, dst.

Semakin besar angkanya berarti semakin cepat waktu yg digunakan, hal ini akan menciptakan efek diam (freeze), misalnya kita akan memotret objek yg sedang bergerak, misal mobil, dengan efek diam, kita memerlukan setidaknya shutter speed diatas 1/125 detik

Sebaliknya bila kita akan memotret objek tersebut dengan efek bergerak, maka dibutuhkan shutter speed kurang dari 1/125 detik, sebaiknya dilakukan dengan cara mengikuti arah gerak objek, hal ini disebut teknik panning,

Dua hal diatas tergantung juga dari kecepatan objek tersebut bergerak, semakin cepat objek bergerak, berarti semakin tinggi shutter speed yg dibutuhkan agar memperoleh efek diam atau bergerak yang kita inginkan, Perlu diperhatikan, semakin rendah shutter speed, akan mengakibatkan semakin besar juga kemungkinan terjadinya camera shaking, yg akan mengakibatkan hasil jepretan menjadi goyang dan tidak tajam

Agar aman, gunakan shutter speed diatas 30 atau 1/30 detik, kalo memang menginginkan shutter speed lebih rendah, misal 1/15 detik, 1/8 detik ato yg lebih rendah, gunakan gunakan penyangga ato tripod

Kamera digital prosumer identik dengan kamera serius yang punya bodi mirip kamera DSLR dan berlensa panjang namun tidak bisa dilepas-pasang layaknya lensa pada kamera DSLR. Awalnya kamera prosumer hadir di masa lalu ketika harga DSLR masih sangat tinggi, padahal banyak fotografer yang ingin berlatih fotografi secara serius namun tak cukup dana untuk membeli DSLR. Oleh karenanya, saat itu kamera prosumer laris manis meskipun kalau diadu dengan DSLR dalam hal kualitas foto dan kinerja secara umum, memang harus mengaku kalah. Kini, eksistensi kamera prosumer masih terus bertahan meski harus berjuang keras ditengah himpitan serbuan kamera DSLR baru nan murah dan canggih. Salah satu cara prosumer untuk tetap eksis di tahun sekarang adalah dengan membuat lensa sepanjang mungkin supaya menarik minat para pembeli. Kamera prosumer dengan lensa zoom optik diatas 20x pun kini sudah jadi suatu hal yang umum dijumpai.

Mengapa kamera prosumer?

Perkembangan teknologi fotografi digital masa kini telah mengantar kamera prosumer menjadi kamera praktis yang bisa diandalkan untuk fotografi sehari-hari, mulai dari memotret makro, landscape, hingga foto tele di alam terbuka. Bahkan kemampuan prosumer dalam merekam video pun semakin ditingkatkan, dengan kemampuan merekam High Definition serta memakai kompresi MPEG-4 AVC yang efisien. Banyak prosumer masa kini yang telah dilengkapi dengan dudukan flash eksternal, sehingga keterbatasan prosumer di daerah kurang cahaya dapat disiasati dengan memasang lampu kilat eksternal yang berdaya lebih besar, dan bisa dibouncing keatas bawah atau kiri kanan. Soal kenyataan lensa prosumer yang tetap/fix, bila disikapi dengan bijak bisa menghindarkan kita dari keinginan membeli banyak lensa, mencegah gonta-ganti lensa yang tidak praktis dan beresiko masuknya debu ke dalam sensor. Soal kendala noise dapat diupayakan dengan sedikit kerja ekstra yaitu memotret memakai file RAW dan selanjutnya diolah di komputer. Belum lagi soal harga dan bobot prosumer yang lebih ringan dari DSLR, membuat prosumer masih punya harapan untuk mendapat tempat di kalangan fotografer, baik pemula hingga profesional sekalipun.

Apa kekurangan kamera prosumer?

Kompromi seperti apa yang harus diterima oleh seseorang yang membeli kamera prosumer? Kamera jenis ini punya harga cukup mahal, namun masih lebih murah daripada kamera DSLR. Jadi janganlah berharap kalau kamera prosumer akan punya kinerja layaknya DSLR. Jadi kompromi yang harus diterima setidaknya ada empat hal :

Pertama adalah menghindari pemakaian ISO tinggi, artinya bermain aman saja di ISO dasar hingga maksimal ISO 400.
Kedua adalah tidak berharap banyak akan fotografi dengan DOF sempit, seperti foto portrait atau still life.
Ketiga adalah menghindari fotografi yang memerlukan kerja kamera yang serba cepat, termasuk shutter, auto fokus hingga continuous shooting yang cepat.
Keempat pemakai prosumer tentunya hanya mengandalkan lensa yang ada, sehingga tidak bisa berganti lensa lain, meski tersedia asesori lensa add-on/conversion lens.

Rekomendasi kami

Bila anda termasuk orang yang tidak ingin ribet memakai kamera DSLR beserta segala lensanya, mengapa tidak menjajal kamera prosumer super zoom saja? Simaklah delapan kamera prosumer super zoom baru yang kami pilihkan untuk anda, dilengkapi dengan uraian singkat fiturnya beserta kekurangannya, disajikan urut sesuai abjad. Siapa tahu satu diantara kamera berikut ini cocok di hati anda.

Canon Powershot SX1 : urusan foto dan video sama baiknya

Keputusan tepat dari Canon dalam merevolusi S5 IS tampak dari dipakainya lensa super zoom 20x yang wide di 28mm pada Powershot SX1 dan juga memakai sensor baru CMOS 10 MP untuk kinerja burst yang lebih tinggi (4 fps dengan resolusi penuh). SX1 ini tetap melanjutkan spesifikasi S5 IS yang sudah baik seperti LCD yang bisa diputar (kini berukuran 2,8 inci widescreen), stereo movie recording, memakai teknologi USM untuk motor zoomnya (bukan motor fokus) dan flash hotshoe. Bahkan kemampuan movie SX1 amat mengagumkan dengan kemampuan full HD 1080i plus HDMI dengan kompresi efisien H.264 dan kemampuan zoom saat merekam video (berkat pemakaian USM motor yang tanpa suara), membuat SX1 jadi kamera dan camcorder yang sama baiknya. Catatan : kami juga menyukai saudara kandung dari SX1 yaitu SX10 yang masih memakai sensor CCD dan tidak memiliki fitur HD movie.
Kekurangan dari SX1/SX10 sendiri adalah lensanya yang tidak secepat pendahulunya, dengan bukaan maksimal f/5.7 pada tele maksimum yang membatasi pilihan bukaan diafragma di saat memotret tele (dan kecenderungan mengalami efek difraksi lensa).

Casio Exilim FH20 : lebih cepat dari DSLR tercepat

Bayangkan kecepatan burst kamera DSLR, betapa tingginya hingga ada yang mencapai 10 frame per detik. Bayangkan kalau ada kamera prosumer yang bisa melebihi kecepatan DSLR dengan 40 fps! Ini bukan mimpi, kamera Exilim FH-20 dengan sensor CMOS 9 MP mampu memotret hingga 40 fps pada resolusi 3072 x 2304 piksel, atau empat kali lebih cepat dari kemampuan burst DSLR yang sekitar 10 fps. Didukung lensa wide 26mm dengan 20x zoom dan kemampuan merekam video HD 30 fps (bahkan tersedia pilihan 1.000 fps untuk resolusi 224 x 56 piksel, lebih kecil dari resolusi video kamera ponsel), file RAW format, image stabilizer dan layar LCD 3 inci, membuat super zoom EX-FH20 ini jadi pesaing berat Canon SX1 di atas.
Kekurangan dari EX-FH20 adalah ketiadaan dudukan lampu kilat dan kualitas optik dari lensa Exilim yang belum sepadan dengan lensa kamera kelas prosumer lainnya.

Fuji FinePix S1500 : sederhana, murah namun lengkap

Fuji memiliki banyak produk yang berlensa panjang, bahkan lensa kamera Fuji kali ini tergolong kurang panjang karena ‘hanya’ punya 12x zoom optik saja. Namun kami sengaja pilihkan Fuji S1500 ini dengan dua pertimbangan : fitur dan harga. Bagi sebagian orang, memiliki kamera dengan lensa 12x zoom itu sudah lebih dari cukup, dan lensa diatas itu hanya membuat harga jual kamera jadi semakin tinggi. Maka kamera 10 MP ini hadir untuk mereka yang mengerti arti kesederhanaan namun tetap menginginkan yang terbaik, katakanlah seperti kualitas optik lensa, bukaan maksimal lensa di f/2.8 pada posisi wide, fitur stabilizer dan desain serta ergonomi kamera yang nyaman. Sebagai info tambahan, Fuji ini memakai LCD berukuran 2,7 inci dan ditenagai oleh 4 baterai AA. Kesemua itu bisa didapat pada Fuji S1500 ini dengan harga dibawah tiga juta saja.

Kekurangan dari Fuji S1500 ini adalah ketiadaan dudukan lampu kilat, lensa kurang wide dan fitur movie yang cuma VGA saja (meski hebatnya dia mampu zoom optik saat merekam video).

Kodak Z1015IS : unggul di lensa Schneider dan HD movie

Kodak tidak punya pilihan lain kecuali fokus di kelas prosumer, mengingat di kelas DSLR Kodak tidak punya produk apapun. Seperti biasanya, andalan Kodak adalah lensanya yang dipercayakan pada Schneider untuk kualitas terbaik. Kali ini Kodak hadir dengan Kodak Z1015IS, kembali memakai desain kamera yang lagi-lagi cukup aneh, dengan resolusi 10 MP, lensa 15x zoom (28-420mm) yang anehnya memakai bukaan diafragma f/3.5 pada posisi wide. Kamera berlayar LCD 3 inci ini sudah dilengkapi dengan fitur stabilizer optik, RAW file format dan HD movie 30 fps.

Kekurangan kamera ini adalah desainnya yang aneh (anda boleh tidak sependapat), tanpa dudukan lampu kilat dan lensanya yang lambat dengan bukaan maksimal f/3.5 saja.

Lumix FZ28 : tetap bertahan memakai lensa 18x zoom

Sukses Panasonic dalam merajai pasaran kamera prosumer dengan zoom 18x telah ditorehkan oleh Lumix FZ18. Kini penerusnya hadir dengan nama Lumix FZ28 yang memakai sensor CCD 10 MP, dan mengalami perubahan sedikit dalam rentang fokal (kini 27-486mm f/2.8-4.4) namun tetap bertahan di 18x zoom optik, serta memakai Venus 4 engine yang lebih bertenaga. Lumix sudah dikenal akan lensa Leicanya yang berkualitas, pengoperasiannya yang mudah (intelligent Auto), serta stabilizer OISnya yang paling efektif dibanding merk lain. Bagi yang suka file RAW akan merasa lega dengan kemampuan FZ28 merekam file RAW, serta tersedianya fitur HD movie 30fps yang jadi tren standar resolusi di masa depan. Kesemua fitur ini membuat Lumix FZ28 menjadi yang terbaik diantara kamera dengan zoom lensa sejenis.

Kekurangan Lumix secara umum adalah noisenya yang tampak lebih tinggi dari kamera lain (padahal artinya Lumix menjaga detail lebih baik daripada kamera lain). Khusus FZ28 ini, sayangnya tidak tersedia dudukan lampu kilat sehingga cukuplah mengandalkan lampu kilat built-in di kamera.

Nikon Coolpix P90 : makin ambisius dengan 24x zoom

Kurang sukses dengan Coolpix P80, Nikon hadir kembali dengan penerusnya yaitu Coolpix P90 yang membuat kejutan dengan desain lensanya yang bermula dari 26mm dan berakhir di 624mm (atau 24x zoom optik). Tampak ambisius memang, terlebih Nikon kini mengusung sensor dengan resolusi 12 MP guna memenangkan persaingan. Kamera yang berdesain cantik ini punya tata letak tombol yang apik, layar LCD lipat dan sudah dilengkapi stabilizer pada sensornya.

Percayakah anda kalau kamera selengkap dan seambisius ini belum memiliki fitur HD movie? Banyak fans Nikon yang mengeluhkan hal ini, belum lagi ketiadaan fitur RAW file format dan absennya dudukan lampu kilat pada kamera ini membuat upgrade dari P80 ke P90 ini terasa kurang signifikan.

Pentax X70 : super zoom pertama dari Pentax

Persaingan panas diramaikan oleh pendatang baru di kelas super zoom, yaitu Pentax yang menjajal peruntungannya dengan meluncurkan Pentax X70. Kamera super zoom berlensa 24x zoom ini juga punya rentang yang persis sama seperti Nikon P90 yaitu 26-624mm, bahkan sama-sama memakai sensor 12 MP. Bedanya Pentax ini tidak memakai LCD lipat, dan sudah mendukung movie HD meski hanya 15 fps. Soal stabilizer, Pentax juga menerapkan sistem sesnsor shift seperti halnya Nikon P90.

Kamera ini belum mendukung RAW file format dan tidak ada dudukan lampu kilat, sungguh disayangkan mengingat Pentax sebagai pendatang baru semestinya sudah mempelajari kekurangan dari para pesaingnya.

Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1 : semakin mendekati kamera DSLR

Tibalah kita di produk terakhir yaitu Sony DSC-HX1 yang mengusung sensor CMOS 9 MP. Dengan target menyaingi langsung Canon SX1 dan Casio FH20, Sony ini pun mengemas lensa Sony G dengan kemampuan zoom 20x. Kode G sendiri menunjukkan pemakaian 6 blade diafragma (hampir menyerupai lensa DSLR dengan 7 blade) untuk kualitas lensa yang lebih baik. Fitur lainnya adalah layar LCD lipat berukuran 3 inci, sweep panorama, steady shot (stabilizer optik), stereo HD movie 1440 x 1080 dan Bionz prosesor (milik DSLR Sony Alpha).

Sayang beribu sayang kalau kamera secanggih ini belum dilengkapi dengan dudukan lampu kilat eksternal dan tidak mendukung RAW file format, tapi begitulah kenyataannya.

Kesimpulan

Tidak ada kamera yang jadi pemenang di daftar ini, karena kali ini kami memang menyajikan pilihan dan andalah yang menentukan kamera mana yang cocok sesuai kebutuhan fotografi dan budget anda. Bila anda mencari kamera dengan lensa terpanjang saat ini, ada Olympus SP-590 dengan lensa super ekstrim 26x zoom optik, atau 26-676mm dengan resolusi 12 MP. Namun karena Olympus masih memakai memory card xD yang kuno dan lambat, kami tidak memasukkannya kedalam daftar rekomendasi kali ini.

Sebagai kesimpulan dalam tulisan ini, kami kelompokkan kamera-kamera diatas dalam katagori yang sama :

Ada tiga kamera yang sudah memakai sensor CMOS seperti Canon SX1, Casio FH20 dan Sony HX1, dengan asumsi sensor CMOS mampu memberi kinerja lebih baik di ISO tinggi dan kecepatan burst yang juga lebih baik. Tapi penggunaan sensor CMOS tentu membuat harga kamera jadi lebih tinggi (di kisaran 5 jutaan).
Ada dua kamera yang sangat ambisius dalam mendesain lensa dengan 24x zoom yaitu Nikon P90 dan Pentax X70, sementara sisanya bertahan di 20x, 18x, 15x bahkan hanya 12x saja. Hebatnya, keduanya bukan cuma sama-sama memakai lensa 24x zoom saja, tapi keduanya juga sanggup membuat lensa yang bermula dari 26mm (sementara pesaing umumnya 28mm).
Jangan terpaku pada resolusi kamera, karena sensor kecil pada kamera non DSLR sudah sangat cukup bahkan hanya dengan 5 MP sekalipun. Kami menganggap resolusi diatas 10 MP sudah melampaui batas fisika sensor sehingga sangat rentan noise di ISO tinggi. Jadi kalau perlu kamera resolusi di atas 10 MP, sebaiknya pertimbangkan saja DSLR. Disini Lumix FZ28, Nikon P90 dan Pentax X70 tampak begitu memaksakan diri dengan 12 MP, meski tidak banyak bedanya bila dibanding dengan 10 MP.
Kamera prosumer disebut berfitur lengkap jika memiliki fitur seperti manual mode, stabilizer, RAW file format dan dudukan lampu kilat eksternal. Kesemua kamera diatas telah dilengkapi dengan manual mode dan stabilizer, namun tidak semuanya memiliki RAW file format dan dudukan lampu kilat. Bila anda perlu kamera dengan RAW file format, cermati baik-baik spesifikasi teknis kamera yang akan anda beli. Bila anda ingin kamera dengan dudukan lampu kilat, tampaknya hanya Canon SX1 yang memilikinya.
Fitur HD movie sudah jadi tren di tahun 2009 ini. Juaranya HD movie di daftar kali ini adalah Canon SX1 dan Sony HX1 dengan audio stereo. Namun bila anda merasa tidak perlu kamera dengan HD movie, tersedia kamera yang hanya mampu merekam VGA movie seperti Fuji S1500 atau Nikon P90. Hati-hati karena ada juga kamera yang memaksakan HD movie tapi hanya sanggup 15 fps (semestinya minimal 24 fps) sehingga gambar video akan tampak patah-patah.

Pentax K-x DSLR

Saat bicara akan kamera DSLR yang harganya terjangkau, tentu kita terbayang akan kamera DSLR berukuran kecil yang punya kinerja pas-pasan dan fitur seadanya. Sadar kalau persaingan DSLR di kelas pemula semakin ketat, Pentax pun merasa perlu untuk membuat kejutan pada penerus dari K-m (K-2000), produk DSLR basic dari Pentax yang ditujukan untuk mengisi segmen market kelas 6 jutaan. Hal itu terbukti pada hari ini akhirnya Pentax mengumumkan kelahiran Pentax K-x, sang penerus dari Pentax K-m, sebuah DSLR mungil yang semestinya masih tergolong kelas basic namun ternyata punya fitur super lengkap dan kinerja tinggi.

nilah alasan mengapa kami menyebutnya DSLR super lengkap dan berkinerja tinggi :

Sensor CMOS berformat APS-C 12.4 MP dengan sensor-shift Shake Reduction hingga 4 stop, plus anti debu.

Dengan hadirnya Pentax K-x, maka peta kompetisi DSLR papan bawah semakin menarik. Diatas kertas, diantara semua pilihan yang ada, praktis Pentax K-x menjadi pemenang dalam hal fitur dan kinerja. Hal ini karena strategi Pentax yang berbeda dari produsen lain, dimana Pentax justru membenamkan fitur kelas berat pada kamera ringan ini sehingga sulit dicari kekurangannya. Pesaing yang kelasnya sama umumnya memakai sensor 10 MP, 7 titik AF, tanpa fitur movie dan tanpa live view. Belum lagi soal ISO yang bisa hingga ISO 12800 dan dukungan wireless flash. Soal kinerja pun pesaing umumnya berkisar di 3 fps untuk burst dan 1/4000 detik untuk shutter tercepatnya. Namun hal paling mengesankan pada Pentax K-x ini menurut kami adalah disediakannya fitur HD movie yang tadinya hanya diberikan di DSLR kelas 8 jutaan (seperti EOS 500D dan Nikon D5000), dan juga pemakaian 11 titik AF (pada Pentax K-m memakai 5 titik) yang mana 9 diantaranya berjenis cross type, sungguh luar biasa. Adapun hal-hal yang sama saja seperti pesaing diantaranya ukuran dan resolusi LCD (2,7 inci), viewfinder tipe mirror dengan 0.85x dan 96% coverage, dan khususnya adalah dimensi kamera yang kecil dan ringan (meski bobot K-x tergolong berat dengan 580 gram).

Pentax K-x ini dalam urusan HD movie dan resolusi sensor bisa dibilang berhasil mengungguli semua kompetitor yang ada , bahkan dalam hal lainnya Pentax K-x mampu mengalahkan pesaing seperti :

Canon EOS 1000D : kalah dalam hal jumlah titik AF (7 titik) dan kinerja secara umum (mungkin penerus dari 1000D bisa menjadi pesaing paling imbang dari K-x).
Nikon D3000 : kalah dalam hal live view dan kinerja secara umum.
Sony A230 : kalah dalam live view, jumlah titik AF (9 titik) dan kinerja secara umum.
Olympus E-450 : kalah dalam hal jumlah titik AF (hanya 3 titik), tanpa stabilizer di bodi dan kalah untuk kinerja secara umum.

So, bisa jadi Pentax K-x ini bakal jadi kamera DSLR kelas murah yang terbaik di atas kertas. Sayangnya Pentax selalu kalah dalam hal promosi dan beriklan, serta dukungan lensa Pentax di tanah air tidak sebanyak lensa lain seperti Canon atau Nikon

Sony Alpha 350 DSLR

Sony mengumumkan tiga model kamera DSLR terbarunya tahun lalu. Mereka adalah Sony Alpha A200, A300, dan A350. Sekilas memang ketiga produk ini memiliki spesifikasi yang mirip. Dengan keluarnya ketiga kamera ini, sepertinya Sony sedang melihat konsumen kelas amatir dan pemula, dengan memberikan kamera DSLR. Tidak hanya itu, Sony merupakan produsen kamera yang memberikan lebih dari satu jenis produk untuk satu segmen ini.

Dari ketiga kamera yang dikeluarkan oleh Sony, Sony Alpha A-350 adalah yang paling mewah dan mahal. Seperti A-300, A-350 memiliki fitur vari-angle LCD yang tidak dimiliki oleh A-200. Perbedaan yang paling menonjol antara A-300 dengan A-350 adalah pada jumlah pikselnya. A-350 memiliki 14,2 Megapiksel. Resolusi sebesar ini memungkinkan persingan dengan banyak kamera mahal lainnya. Selain itu, A-350 telah menggunakan sensor CCD, bukan lagi CMOS seperti yang biasa digunakan oleh kebanyakan kamera digital kelas pemula.

Live view memang merupakan hal yang sudah umum di kalangan kamera digital. Tapi ini merupakan sesuatu hal yang masih dianggap baru oleh Sony. Menurut Sony, live view yang selama ini digunakan, bukan merupakan solusi terbaik. Kebanyakan karena auto focus yang bekerja lambat atau tidak bekerja sama sekali. Sony telah menerapkan sensor gambar kedua seperti yang telah digunakan oleh Olympus pada kamera-kamera sebelumnya. Sensor kedua ini ada di dalam prism house. Understanding White Balance

You may not have noticed in your daily surroundings that sunlight and electric light are composite beams of light of various colors with differing wavelengths. This fact can be confirmed by looking at a rainbow, a natural prism that separates and shows individual colors. During the day, sunlight appears white with no color bias. The early evening has a red tint while the shade is blue-tinged. You may wonder what causes this phenomenon.

Light has interesting properties. Sunlight contains light of every wavelength from the long end of the spectrum to short, invisible ultraviolet rays. There is blue, which can be seen with the naked eye, then equally visible green and red as well as invisible infrared. Blue, red and green are called the primary colors of light. Almost all the other visible colors can be expressed as some mixture of these three. For example, yellow is achieved by mixing red and green. The whiteness of the daylight that humans perceive is the result of an equal mix of the three primary colors. The red-tinted light seen in the early evening results from the red light being the strongest of the three, and the blue-toned shade is a state where the blue light is stronger.

Human perceptions of light are also interesting. Under certain circumstances the human brain corrects light that has a color bias, such as light in the early evening or in the shade, to ïwhiteî based on its memory of white. Cameras, on the other hand, record the real state of the light more closely so that red-colored light appears red in a picture. This is why you may find it strange that there are differences between the resulting picture and your recollection of the colors when you shot it.

To deal with this situation, digital cameras are equipped with an auto white balance feature that automatically adjusts images more closely to the human perception of light. For example, if it detects too much red in an image, it finds the balance between the three primary colors so that white objects appear white to us.

You may be wondering why the term ñwhite balanceî is used. A camera lacks artificial intelligence and cannot judge what is scenery, the subject or even the color of the subject in the pictures it shoots. Instead, it takes the data it captures, finds the portion that is closest to white, and assumes that this is white as the basis on which to balance the colors in the remaining part of the image. That is why the term ñwhite balanceî is used.

The Colors and Characteristics of Light Underwater

nderwater light has characteristics that are quite different from the same light on land. On land, for instance, the color tones we perceive are the result of a bias in one or more of the three primary colors. Underwater, however, the deeper you go, the more most light frequencies are diffused so that at close to 40 meters, the deepest depth for recreational dives, almost all the frequencies are diffused into the water, except for blue light. This is the reason why the seas appear blue when you look at the sky from underwater„only the blue light can penetrate that far.

Since the special lighting conditions underwater are naturally not the same as on land, a cameraÍs automatic white balance capabilities may occasionally be overwhelmed or non-white objects may be mistakenly judged white with the result that it corrects colors inappropriately. With some cameras, images may have a bluish tint and extremely thin colors or they may have no blue whatsoever despite being taken underwater. This not really a problem, however, with digital cameras.

When shooting underwater, use the manual white balance settings instead of the auto setting. The setting you select will depend upon the clarity of the water, but the ñDaylightî mode is generally good for shallow water as deep as 5 or 10 meters or for flash-assisted macro shots. For deeper water, or when flash-assisted macro mode produces an overly strong blue tone, use the ñCloudyî setting to reproduce bright colors without the blue bias.

Marine Photography Techniques

Despite the advantages digital cameras bring to underwater photography, you do need to take note of a few differences between shooting on land and underwater. For example, light gradually becomes more diffuse the deeper you go underwater until you eventually end up in a completely blue world. To shoot colorful pictures at each depth, you need to compensate by employing supplementary light sources, such as flashes or underwater lights, or by using the white balance features of your digital camera.
If you use the cameraês built-in flash underwater, you may also experience the –marine snow phenomenon” where light reflects off plankton and sand particles in the water to create a haze over the entire image. You can avoid this by using an external flash or video light instead of the built-in flash for underwater photography. The exception is close-up macro shots where there is a relatively thin layer of water between the subject and the camera.

     Also note that zoom settings behave differently underwater because light refracts at the boundary between air (in the lens) and water. This principle can be demonstrated by the bent appearance of a hand half dipped into a water glass. The same zoom setting on land will result in a narrower field underwater. To shoot wide angles, therefore, you must shoot the subject from a slightly greater distance than you would on land.
     These techniques will soon become second nature to you if you use the digital cameraês endless photo capacity to learn by trial and error. Once you understand the differences between shooting on land and underwater, you can easily adapt to taking great underwater pictures. In the process, you can expect your digital camera to become a trusted partner in your diving adventures.
     Oh, thereês one more difference between shooting on land and underwater with a digital cameraÄdonêt forget to put the camera in the waterproof case before submerging it. It isnêt waterproof by itself. Place it in the waterproof case, then close and lock the cover. Before embarking on each dive, remember to inspect and service the waterproof case. That way your underwater photography will always give you great results and be a pleasurable experience.
